Had a slightly better night on the pads, although still not that good. Went with all 8 footers that I haven't passed before... had about a 50% success rate with that, which is a bit lower than I'd like. I would like to say that having stops in a song is a pretty weak way of making it more difficult, since it really just means that you need to have played it often enough to remember it's there, or very quickly recover from the stop. But I digress. I think part of the reason that I've been failing so much more often lately is because I'm trying to actually do the steps "correctly" instead of just moving really fast to compensate. Obviously still needs some work. Went with the hip opening workout after the DDR... it was a little easier tonight, since I was warm from playing. That also means I have to be more careful not to overdo it on the joints, though, since the muscles have that greater flexibility. I should really be doing this workout on a near daily basis, though, especially while waiting for my wrist to heal so I can do regular workouts properly again. Anyway, that's all for tonight... hopefully I'm now off to a good start, and will keep it up. As always, we'll see. Until next time...
Had another bad night on the pads. It was slightly better than last night, in that I was coming near to passing songs, but I was still failing a lot. Managed to play somewhat longer, although still not nearly as long as I'd like. I want to be playing an hour or so a session, and I'm lucky to get half an hour in currently. Mostly this is because of my ankle getting tweaked after I play for a little while. Maybe I should try wearing my ankle brace, although I'm somewhat hesitant about what that might do to my footing. Anyway. Went for a light stretching yoga workout afterward, emphasis on the stretching. I've been noticing that my legs, particularly my outer hamstrings, are much tighter than they really should be. My suspicion is that I just haven't been doing enough stretching, and so they're just staying tight, so hopefully increased practice will fix that.
It's been a fairly weak month in terms of my practice, particularly the end of the month. Lack of motivation is the main problem, although certainly I've had some issues with injuries to deal with, and still do. But I can work around those, at least to a limited extent, and just haven't had the will to do so. Admittedly the overall workout picture is a little better than one would think from the entries, as I did play DDR several days that I didn't do a yoga workout. Anyway, once again squeaked in the last workout to hit my target. I'm really hoping that I get off to a good start in December, because I'm not really sure I'll be willing to play catch up again at the end of the month if it comes to that.
Had a rather short session on the pads tonight. It would have been longer, but I forgot that the first time songs are loaded, it takes somewhat longer. It might be just as well that it was a short session... for some reason my play was really bad. I just couldn't seem to coordinate between my eyes and my feet and get into the rhythm of the music. I guess there are days like that, but it seems I've been having quite a few of them lately. Part of it may have been the fact that I was playing some of the new songs that I downloaded earlier, but even so I was doing poorly. Oh well. Because of the extra loading time, I actually did my short workout before I played, although clearly it didn't help. Or perhaps it did... maybe it would have been even worse, difficult as that is to imagine. Not a whole lot to it, just went through some basic poses to stretch out. That's all for tonight... will have to get an extra workout in tomorrow to hit my goal, so it should be a busy day. Until then...
Thanks to weak motivation, I have once again put myself in a position where I need to do an "extra" workout to hit my target for the month. This time that extra workout took the form of the hip opening workout. I'm actually not sure why I'm not doing this one more often... probably because I've tended to take the view that I need to really try and match Rodney through the workouts. But I've come to realize, particularly for this one, that not only can I not match him, but I'll end up hurting myself if I try. However, if I just do it as well as I can, I may eventually be able to do the full workout. So with that as a guiding thought, hopefully I'll do a better job of getting to this workout. Really, it's probably the most important workout that I can do right now, and I should be focusing a lot of attention on it. That, and abs workouts, which I have also been neglecting, although perhaps with slightly better justification, at least in the past week or two. Anyway, that's all for now. Presumably will finish up tonight with some DDR and stretching. Until then...
Played some bad DDR tonight followed by some weak yoga. The DDR was short, but not sweet... I couldn't seem to get into the groove tonight for whatever reason. Brain and feet were not connected, apparently. I would have kept playing, but I tweaked my ankle a bit on the last song I played, and decided to call it quits after that. After that, I did a little bit of yoga, but I really wasn't getting into that either, which made it very difficult. In the end I mostly did stretching, barely even good enough to consider it a workout. But at least I got it in, so... that's something. Will hopefully be picking it back up a little here for the next couple of days, at least to the point of having some enthusiasm for the workouts. Until next time...
Well, I've failed on my quest to actually stay ahead of the curve, although I'm still even on the even day, which isn't too bad. Took Saturday night off like I planned, and then couldn't quite motivate to the workout last night.. Got back into the DDR groove tonight, although that might be stretching the truth a bit... I played, anyway. I did manage to motivate into at least a little better of a stretching workout afterward, although still not all that great. Again, better than nothing I suppose. I'm starting to feel the call of the pads, though, so hopefully I'll be getting more consistent with that, and also with the yoga workouts. Until next time...
Encountering some motivational difficulties this week. Partly injury related... my ankle was feeling the effects of playing most of Monday as well. But as usual, it's mostly just about laziness. Managed to play some DDR tonight, and then did a light stretching yoga workout afterward. Not really sure why I'm having so much trouble motivating to stretch... I know how important it is, and it's even easier when I'm already warm. Maybe just because I really want to take a shower right away. Anyway... guess that's all for tonight. Will hopefully start to recover motivation here in the next couple of days, get myself back on track. Until next time...
Trying to continue to stay ahead of the average for workouts this month. I've managed so far, despite some fairly weak motivation in the past week. It's not even like I've been avoiding working out entirely, as I have been playing DDR... just having a hard time motivating to do any yoga before or after. Went with another light stretching workout afterward tonight. I really wish I was able to get more solid yoga workouts in, but this wrist injury really prevents me from doing any of the major workouts without quite a bit of modification. What I should be doing in the meantime is working hard on abs and flexibility, but I'm not, because I'm lazy. Admittedly those things are both hard to get excited about, but it's not like I'm doing yoga to get excited. Anyway... that's all for tonight. Planning on vegging tomorrow night, and then getting back on the horse Sunday. Until then...
Was originally planning on doing a workout last night, likely with some DDR, but had a rather odd case of stomach pain. It was rather intense for a while, maybe half an hour or so, and then it faded pretty quickly. I did look at a few sites dealing with that sort of thing, but as far as I could tell me symptoms didn't really match anything more... serious. I seem to be okay now, so I guess I'll just play it by ear, and monitor the situation closely. I did play DDR both Tuesday and Wednesday night, so I haven't been slacking off completely, just not doing yoga workouts to go with them. Which is a bad habit for me to get in to, but better than doing nothing, I suppose.
In demonstrating my recovery, I decided to go with the stamina workout today. No problems related to the stomach or abdominal regions, although it is perhaps worth noting that I certainly wasn't willing to do an abs workout today. Unfortunately, I slipped at some point last night, and caught myself with my right hand, which probably undid most of the healing that has occurred, which was already not as much as it should have been. Very frustrating. Anyway, that's all for now. Will likely take it easy the rest of the day, and perhaps return to DDR tomorrow. Until then...
Well, I at least intended to do this workout last night, but I was thwarted by the fact that I fell asleep somewhat earlier than originally anticipated. Not early, by any means, but earlier than expected. Of course, had I prioritized the workout properly it wouldn't have made any difference, but that's nothing new. Went back to the stamina workout again, l/r invert, just modified to not hurt the wrist. This wrist thing is really starting to annoy me now... it just doesn't seem to want to heal. Admittedly, falling on it last week didn't help matters any, but it should have already healed prior to then, anyway. Not a whole lot to say about the workout... I can feel the effects of not doing these workouts regularly, as my legs are much tighter than they should be. My whole body, really... I have to step up to the plate and get back to daily workouts again, even if it means working through or around the wrist annoyance. Anyway, that's all for now... may motivate enough to get in a workout tonight, especially if it's paired with DDR. Otherwise, will definitely make the effort to do it tomorrow. Until then...
